West Africa, Ghana, Ashanti Akuaba fertility doll from Ghana, 20th century. Characteristic large circular head with a strong brow that arches downward over the face. The neck and body with blue and orange necklaces, the reverse of the head carved with ritual object engravings. Independently reviewed by a member of the Ethnic Arts Council of Los Angeles as "Made for use and used". Size 18 1/4" H
