Exceptionally incised in low relief and pierced this incredible canoe splash board includes two figures at the center, who are to ensure calm seas and good winds are ahead. Around the outer edges include birds and sea creatures. Red and white pigment remains. PNG splash boards would typically have designs like this one representing elements of the female reproductive organs. Size 24 1/2" H x 24 1/2" W, museum quality stand included.
