High quality and rare example of a Philippines Tinggian (headhunters) straw rain cape with finely woven rattan band for the neck with a dense plaited palm straw woven into a cape. Exceptional warriors with a lance the Tinggian were a formidable tribe that had contests with the other headhunter tribes (Igorots & Kalingas) of the Philippines.
Tingian, also known as the Tingguian or Itneg, are an indigenous ethnic group in the Philippines. They primarily inhabit the mountainous regions of the northern part of Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. The Tingian people are known for their rich cultural traditions, including their distinctive clothing, agricultural practices, and social organization.
