Late 20th century wood carved Maori standing figure. Finely detailed wooden Maori Tiki statue with incised tattoo designs throughout his face, arms, legs and back. Black painted Moko face, with incising throughout, mother of pearl inlaid eyes. Teko Teko is a representation of a Maori tribal ancestor. Often seen in and around traditional meeting places in houses, this figure represents guardianship and protection. Size 15 1/2" H
ex-Upper East Side collectors M. and N. Stevens.
Condition: Overall good condition with minor surface wear and scratches commensurate with age.
