West Africa, Ghana Region, Ashanti 1880-1925. Ashanti tribal knife or short sword with geometric carved dumbbell grip, blade double edged steel with slight taper upward heavily covered in bands of geometric patterns and stippling with a serpents like band incised to forward section to tip, carved top section towards grip in waved pattern to either side and a squared ricasso area. Purchased in 1990. Size overall 21 1/2" L, blade 14 3/4" L.
Condition: as-is condition with wear as expected
