Equine power, beauty and wonder, this strikingly tall statue of a horse is beautifully painted and detailed. Brown, cream and green coloring throughout. In death, Chinese revered horses as a means of transport for the soul on the journey to the afterlife. Hequ horses like these were native to the Tibetan plateau and trace back to the Tang Dynasty. Size 29 1/2" x 29 1/2" H
Condition: Horse base has been broken off the front section including both legs. Losses to base, and repairs as shown. Chip to ear with possible restoration.
