Handsomely carved wood African mask with bird finial, likely Bamana culture. Scarification throughout the face, protruding elongated nose and pierced eyes. The bird stands atop his head with incised feathers, wearing a beaded necklace. Ears grow to protruding horns on either side of his head. Size 22 1/4" H

Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.

Condition: Minor old loss to bird beak, surface wear commensurate with age.
