Papua New Guinea cowrie shell and root fiber netted Ggurd bag or vessel. Painted mask face in red, black, and white colors cowrie shell eyes to the bag lid. Long nose with red fibers to the base and bag with various other miniature shells hanging and an intricately netted gourd vessel to the interior. Size 10" W x 16 1/2" L including bead and shell chin. Gourd inside the netting broken at bottom
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
