Greater Nicoya, Jicote type, Cara variety. Period VI circa 1000 – 1350 AD. Lovely deep open polychrome bowl, beautifully painted in intricate detail throughout. Including temples to the rim, with polychrome banding, leading to painted emblems on each side, with a sunrise style emblem to the reverse. Size 8 1/2" W x 4 1/2" H

ex-collection of Stanley L. Kaufman, a Harvard educated lawyer who specialized in bringing suits on behalf of corporations’ disgruntled stockholders, died in 1993 at the age of 81. He was the founder and partner of his law firm Kaufmann & Kirby.
