Ifugao and Bantoc rattan woven backpacks with the darker patinated smaller example and a larger natural example also in woven rattan.
Filipino backpacks, also known as (bayong) or (banig) bags, are traditional woven bags that are an integral part of Filipino culture. These bags are made from natural fibers, such as abaca – a type of banana plant, rattan, or pandan leaves, and they are known for their durability, versatility, and eco-friendliness. Bayong bags are often handwoven by skilled artisans and have a rich cultural history in the Philippines. Size of largest 12 1/2" H x 12 3/4" W
Condition: Good condition overall with signs of age and use, smaller to the left is slightly sun-bleached to the top.
