Exquisite time and detail went into the carving of this strong, heavy granary door. With 14 repeating carved humans band three times – top, middle, bottom, and crocodiles and snakes in between. All pieces carefully and intricately carved in high relief, mirrored as best as possible with only the use of hand tools. The door has been stabilized in old times at the top and bottom where it had separated over time. Size 59 1/2" H x 26" W
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
Condition: As-is condition with loss to where handle once was, wear commensurate with age.
