Western Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Baule or Baoule peoples Early 20th c. Fine Mask known as "Kapan Pre" Portrait or Dance Mask constructed of Hollowed-Out Wood. The designation meant to represent a young female or ancestor. Tall pointed skull with two crown protrusions to either side indicating a significant person, pointed triangular pierced ears, thin mouth and eyes with small circular pupil cutouts. 14" H x 7 1/2" L x 8 1/2" W
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
