Introspective, serene, and welcoming this statue stands over four feet tall, and carved from one large section of wood. She stands nude with hands turned upwards. Her belly with incised and raised scar designs, and hair in a cylindrical hate on her head. Such Alusi figures are placed in shrines and venerated as family guardians, the open hands indicating a generous nature as well as readiness to receive offerings. Size figure 56 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W
Condition: As-is condition with patina, pigment and stable fissures throughout. Minor losses to toes, face and ears.
