Lot 316:
Wedding dowries varied from goats to large heavy pieces of iron such as this throughout times and cultures. This remarkably sized Chenkrom used up until the early 1940’s in Nigeria would be presented to the father of the bride-to-be and used during the celebration of the union. As the shape suggests the piece would later be reforged into shovels or garden hoes as needed. Size 39 1/2" L
Condition: As-is condition with wonderful patina throughout.
