Middle Sepik, Papua New Guinea woven crocodile figure. Reinforced with bamboo legs and bands to the inside, with polychrome coloring to body in burnt orange, brown, white and yellow. Mimicking that of a wild crocodile with a bulbous body, long snout and inset eyes. Size 51" L x 13" H
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
Condition: Losses and wear commensurate with age throughout.
