East Java, Indonesia, 19th to 20th century AD. Clay press molded plaque for charm Gao box, used as a devotional tablet for consecrations and prayer. Often depicting fierce multi-armed tantric deities. This piece is likely Avolikteshvara – who symbolizes compassion and the promise of release from suffering in Buddhism.
