Pre-Columbian, Maya 250 BCE. Large pottery canteen with burnishing marks. Bulbous protruding belly leads to a large neck opening with two ribbed handles on each side. Terracotta, cream and ochre varying colors throughout. Old loss showing root marks to the body of the canteen. Size 12 1/2" W x 10" H
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
Condition: Old loss to body where it would have been laying in moist dirt for years, old stable crack to belly, pitting and manganese throughout.
