Japan, Meiji Period so called ‘Shibayama’ 2-panel screen with carved and inset stone, mother of pearl, and bone inlay. The panel has removable pierced wood openwork sections of birds in flight to the top, carved around the boarders and frame with birds and floral scenes, gilt lacquer interior painting of lotus flowers and scrolling, and to the interior numerous inlaid stones, bone, and mother of pearl intricately placed to create a scene of rooster and chicken in an open field with foliage to the background. 52 1/2" W x 47" H
