Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. Wonderfully crafted wild sow, she stands in a forward motion pose on all four paws, curled tusks and ears pointed outward. Incised almond eyes, long snout with pierced nostrils and slightly open mouth. Boars and pigs have long played an important role in Chinese culture, symbolizing happiness and good fortune. Size 17" L x 10" H
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
Condition: Repairs and restoration to legs, old chip to snout and one foot. Earthen deposits and root marks throughout.
