Japanese bronze altar likely Meiji 1868-1912 with a heavily detailed base depicting turbulent waves at the base of mussels and oyster clad rock surface. The central depiction a wayward man spooning liquid gold from the tree of life, with a bird of prey looking on from the other side. A wonderful example of a traditional Japanese vessel for Ikebana – the art of flower arrangement. Size 22 1/2" H x 12 1/2" W
Condition: Surface wear and scratches throughout commensurate with age and traditional use.
