Ancient Kashan Pierced White-Glazed Conical Bowl, 12th century

Extremely thin and finely glazed white ceramic bowl with translucent pierced decoration depicting ancient text or symbols around the sides of the bowl. The rim with a blue paint and to the rim of the base. An excellent example of early Kashan pottery, Kashan being an epicenter of revolutionary fine porcelain in the period constructed with a mix of quartz, clay, and finely ground glass powder creating a stunning extremely thin white-glaze.
