Roman terracotta Model of a Warthog Boar

Ancient Roman boar, circa 2nd century AD. Buff clay ceramic votive boar to offer for a successful hunt or to be used as a child’s toy. Beast stands on all fours with legs together supporting his oversized body. Characteristic features to face and head depicting a long snout, tall ears, and rounded eyes. Size 6 1/2" L x 4 1/4" H

ex-New York, New York collection, ex-private New York collection, ex-Doctor T. Forman collection, assembled in the 1980s and 1990s.

Condition: Losses commensurate with age, with lovely root marks throughout.
