Tremarctos Floridanus, Florida Cave Bear Paw

This extinct species (floridanus) is grouped with Short-faced bear Simus but was much earlier. This bear originated 4.9 million years ago -10,000 years ago during Middle Pliocene through late Pleistocene. This makes this the earliest known true bear. Commonly ate plants and animals, so was an omnivore as almost all known bears are, weighing up to 1200 lbs. This one is from Marion County, Florida. This amazing foot which has 25 complete bones measuring 9.5" x 7" wide with professional repairs and restoration to claws. A few of the claws are from another Tremartos. Display case included.
