Vera Cruz Smiling Pottery Sonriente Head, 600 - 800 AD

Gulf coast of Mexico, Remojadas. Gorgeous effigy head, wearing an elaborate headdress with a clouded moon like scene carved in relief. Wide almond shaped eyes, triangular protruding nose, with slit smiling mouth and high cheekbones. Size 6 1/4" H x 5 1/4" W x 4 1/4" L, 8" H on custom stand.
