Eastern Europe, Imperial Russia, Caucasus region circa 1850-1890. Finely made gold and silver Nielloed Caucasian Shaska sword or saber, Handle with a traditional downturn pommel engraved and nielloed in gold and silver pattern with a grip that is small carved stippled design with interweaving designs at center band, the lower grip is decorated in similar fashion and shape, blade single edged slight curved upwards with a central ridge and triple fuller at center section to tip, the blade also features remnants of an old etching panel, sheath is leather with matching nielloed mounts and original leather belt loop.
