Europe, probably German in the 15th century style. Heavy all-steel medieval flanged mace with a turned steel lower handle, smooth steel shaft, and five carved steel flanges with a twisted finial. Size overall 24 1/2" L
The flanged mace came into wide spread use during 12th century early medieval Europe for its unprecedented ability to penetrate or severely damage an armoured opponents. The heavy steel mace featured a design perfect for catching plate armor and driving the entire force of the weapons impact often from horseback to a single point of impact at the end of the 5 carved pointed flanges.
Condition: As-is condition with pitting and wear throughout.
