European, Austria, Model 1848. Sword with superb gilt-brass lion head pommel, cross-guard, and scabbard fittings. Triple-etched blade with Austrian crown, Franz Joseph I cypher, panoplies of flags and arms, and scrolled leaf motifs. Excellent mother of pearl grip plaques. Size 35 1/2" L, blade 29" L
