Southeast Asia, Philippines, Maranao or Maranao or Maranaw Peoples 20th c. or earlier. Fine bezel nut silver inlaid brass and chain link suit of armor complete with a brass belt & sword in scabbard, shield, helmet, face guard, breast / backplate, arm defenses, and waist plate defenses. The entire suit inlaid in the so called bezel nut style with silver and brass with predominantly brass and some copper. Overall 40" H, shoulders 18" W, face guard 9" H, sword blade 11" L (stand not included). The Maranao peoples are a primarily Muslim Filipino background and the last culture to undergo Islamic expansion which ended after roughly 1400 years, thus the art and culture of the province was heavily influenced by the Islamic style art of the period.
