Philippines Archipelago, Mindanao, Moro Peoples 19th century, rattan wrapping, wood center with painted blue five point ‘Star of Islam’ and natural pigments. The shield with finely woven rattan wrapping is light with a deeply carved two bar handle to the rear one with a circular opening and another with a flat opening for handling when in use. Size 19 1/2" W
