Philippines Archipelago, Southern Philippines, Mindanao 20th century reproduction crafted from localized wood prior to any restrictions in the region and likely the final product of it’s kind and quality from the region. An enormous, heavy, and vividly complex rendition of an early shield with varying bands of black and white triangular shapes with increasing abstract carved decoration to the center. The reverse hand carved with excellent signs of tooling in the period fashion with two handles for retention. Size 33" W
